The following are notes to assist Club Secretaries who have teams in the Senior Competition at NSNA. All the points are important but I draw your attention particularly to: Grading, Fixtures, Late Registrations and Master Sheets. A sheet containing this information will be handed out at the next Council Meeting (prior to competition commencement) so that Club Secretaries can advise their senior players (Grades A1 through to Cadets) of the requirements of the NSNA Winter Competition. In 2010, the senior competition will consist of 22 divisions, this is an increase of 2 from 2009.
Grading
- Available on NSNA website from Thursday 1 April.
- Club Secretaries have until 5.00 pm Tuesday 7 April to submit an enquiry about their teams to the Senior Registrar (not the Grading Committee). The Registrar will consult with Grading Committee and report back to the Club Secretaries.
- Please review grading carefully prior to asking questions. There are two extra divisions in the senior competition this year which will mean that teams will appear to be graded higher than requested.
Fixtures
- Senior timeslots are 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.
- Any grade could play at any timeslot.
- Where possible, the Fixtures Committee will endeavour to spread teams over the four timeslots for clubs who have more than two teams.
- A1 and at least one other grade will be split across two timeslots for umpiring purposes.
- If Senior matches are called off due to poor weather, A1 may be played as per regular fixtures. If Senior matches are cancelled, it affects grades A1 through to Cadets (Cadets are part of the senior competition).
- Final fixtures will be available on NSNA website from Monday 12 April.
- What the Fixtures Committee deem appropriate is what will occur in 2010. No changes will be made. No A1 games will be locked into specific times.
Late Registrations
Emailed (preferably) to Senior Registrar by 10 am Fridays and must include the following information:
- Club Name
- Team Number and Grade
- Name of Player
- Address
- Date of Birth (no player can be registered without this)
- Previous Playing Experience (this ensures player is being graded into an appropriate team)
All late registrations will be acknowledged If you don’t get acknowledgement by 10 am Friday, I haven’t received the registration, please ring me (9220 6433 or 0413 881 181).
After 10 am Fridays, please ring if you have a late registration, don’t rely on email.
Deregistrations / Transfer to Non Player Status
Players may be transferred to Non Player Status in the following circumstances:
- If a player has not played a game, they may be transferred (nothing required).
- If a player has played a game and become injured (medical certificate to be shown to Senior Registrar).
- If a player has played any game(s) and needs to transfer for a non-medical reason (Statutory Declaration to be given to Senior Registrar).
Master Sheets
- Senior players are required to sign a Master Sheet prior to playing their first game (their first game may not necessarily be Round 1). This is used to check signatures to ensure that the correct players have been on court. They must also sign the scoresheet each time they play (this is for insurance purposes).
- Master sheets will be in use from Round 1 and will be on the clipboard with the scorecards for the first few weeks of competition.
- After this, they will be at the scoresheet table filed in Grade/Team order.
- Points will be deducted for failure to sign the Master Sheet from Round 1. Points are deducted whether the match was won or lost.
- Points are also deducted for playing an un-registered player. Points are deducted whether the match was won or lost.
Points and Forfeits
- Awarded: Win (2), Loss (0), Draw (1), Forfeit Win (2), Forfeit Loss (0).
- Any team receiving a Forfeit will have all players (who have signed the master sheet) noted as having ‘played’.
- Forfeits are to be notified as early as practical to both the opposing team and the Senior Registrar
(0413 881 181). Please remember to notify your umpire particularly if borrowing from another club.
Playing Up
Players are able to play for a higher team without penalty twice in a season. On the third time they play up, they will be re-graded into the next highest team that the club has available. If a club has two teams in the same grade, a player from the higher numbered team can play up into the other team but not the reverse (eg W/United 5 and W/United 4 are in the same grade, players from W/United 5 can fill in for W/United 4 but not the reverse).
General
If you have a question about anything during the season, please contact me. I would rather you ask lots of questions than get things wrong and your team/s lose points. I am at the courts each Saturday from 7 am – 5 pm.
